You know, I actually e-mailed off-line with David Glasgow, who is really good soul. He sent me a wonderful e-mail, and that was after we disagreed. He mentioned something in that e-mail; all of us engage in eisegesis when it comes to on-line more then any of us care to admit. I feel that's what happened between me and April. After continued dialogue, David Glasgow came to an understanding with us. Marc, well, I don't know. I responded to his comment directed to me as kindly as I could, without compromising my beliefs, and nothing short of surrender was enough.

I believe that Marc has other issues regarding religion generally and the Catholic Church particularly. I think that we just happened to be the representatives of religious people, so I don't take it personally. I'm sure that, on a different forum, we will have plenty of good things to say about each other. At least, I hope so.

And, it's great that brother is here in town! Have you invited him to join the Diner?

Good blog entry, Father. A personal question, and, if you don't want to answer, that's fine. Since you were ordained 4 years ago, did you have a previous career before your present vocation? I only ask b/c many of the newly ordained nowadays had other jobs b/f their ordination and didn't do the "straight from high school" path.

BTW, I hope you don't get inundated w/pedophile comments. I think that the BPP Diner has a highly class of discussion, but it only takes one.

I don't suppose you've had days at the pulpit where you've look out on the parishioners, and it looked as though no one's getting what you're saying? That's what that felt like.

BTW, how long ago was your brother here? It's not so little anymore. The whole eastern part of the town has large developments. We don't live in that part; our place is in the older part in the west, near the bay.

Thank you, father, for adding me, & for saving my bacon on the homosexuality issue. I felt like nothing I was saying was getting through.

Opinions

I just want to state from the outset that I value all opinions, even when we disagree, we at least get the advantage of understanding where someone is coming from. So far I guess I have been labeled for weel or for woe, a "conservative" Catholic. I see myself as more an orthodox Catholic, in other words someone who believes in the Church's teachings. As someone who doesn't believe in picking and choosing which doctrines I agree with or don't to suit my fancy. I believe what the Lord has taught,… Continue

Latest Pastor Column

“Brothers and sisters:
What will separate us from the love of Christ?
Will anguish, or distress, or persecution, or famine,
or nakedness, or peril, or the sword?
No, in all these things we conquer overwhelmingly
through him who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life,
nor angels, nor principalities,
nor present things, nor future things,
nor powers, nor height, nor depth,
nor any other creature will be able to separate us
from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

My Pastor Column Regarding the "ordination" of women in Boston

On May 22, 2004 at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston my life changed forever. I was changed personally because I was configured to Jesus Christ, so a mark was left on my soul. I had prepared for this moment for 6 years. This included studying philosophy and theology. This included extensive field education in prisons, in parishes, in hospitals as well as a year I spent teaching religious education to 8th graders in a Framingham parish, a group of students that no one else wanted. All thr… Continue
