Made a Sports logo. Still interested in starting the group. I would, but with the move to Austin, I'm forgoing cable TV, so my postings might be limited.

you and me both, matthew. i've been thinking like crazy about what could be done - within all of our current life situations - to make community a viable livelihood. i mean, that's what this is and was. it wasn't about a radio show or a blog. they're just moments, avenues, tools. in one sense, i think we're lucky to have learned how powerful it all is; i'm not sure it'd have been clear had we not lost it.

Matt, my brother isn't someone who a) would have listened to the BPP or b)would join an online group. I love him to death but he would be more apt to send an inappropriate email joke than be one to have a discussion about religion.
If you cathc my drift.

"And, yeah, at the end of the day, we are all full of crap, but we can be productive crap."

My bottom line is as long as my wife is happy, all else is gravy.

Matthew I don't mind the question at all. I was involved in Real Estate management and property accounting before I entered into St. John's Seminary in 1998.

I also don't care if small minded people want to name call, they can if they wish, I know who I am and what Christ has called me to be.

Marc seems to have it out for you

Hi Matthew,

I just read the Current article on the BPP cancellation. That's a nice quote from you they included. And very accurate.

Thanks...I think what we need is action...we can only be sad for so long...getting on with where we want to go next is critical right now (I think).

And BTW, I have had many a day when I wondered if anyone was listening or getting what I was saying.

Let's keep these folks on their toes my friend. Good Man! Actually as far as my brother goes he was there not to long ago. I should be careful with my language so as to not imply something I did not mean. I just enjoyed my stay there. He now lives on the beach somewhere, maybe PB.

Canadian Elections: And the winner is ... um ... ah ... well ... you see ... it was like ... I dunno.

I know my neighbors --or is it "neighbours?"-- to the north took vicariously glee some 8 years ago when we in the U.S. waited for Floridians to figure out either how to vote or how to count, which ever came first. Well, now, it looks as though they're having their own fun with PM Stephen Harper asking Governor General Michaëlle Jean to "prorogue" parliament until 26 January, 2009.

Prorogue. For us "southerners," that's a new word. I had to look it up. It means, "to ask for public assent to exte… Continue

The much heralded NPR API. Any thoughts?

So, I've bitten the bullet and signed up with NPR's much heralded API. While there are some positives, like Facebook-like features on my account, I just don't see it as comparable to the benefits of the BPP.

Does anyone else have any thoughts?

R.I.P. Studs Turkel

He may have been born, much like another notable Chicagoan, in New York, but he was the voice of the quintessential Chicagoan. When someone asks me what Chicago's like, I used to tell him, "Read Studs Turkel."

The best thing I could say about Studs was that he treated everyone the same way. It didn't matter if you were a single mother on welfare or the president of First Chicago Bank. Studs treated both people with the same level of dignity.

He may not have believed in God --or maybe he was he… Continue

The positive influence that the BPP has had on our lives

I miss the show. I miss the blog. I miss the BPP staff. Certainly, the BPP staff misses the show far more than an audience member like me ever could. Though, I must say this: the show has had at least one lasting positive effect on my life, an effect that presented itself at work.

You see, as an engineer, I'm used to working around people with poor social skills. While my social skills may not make me very popular by normal society's standards, I am regular social butterfly compared to other en… Continue
